George E. (Butch) Truskowski, 65 years old of Amherst, Ohio died on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at his home following a short illness.
George was born on August 3, 1944 in Elyria, Ohio and lived in Elyria until moving to Amherst 10 years ago. He was a graduate of Elyria High School with the class of 1962 and he was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was employed as an electrician for 30 years at U.S. Steel, Lorain Works, retiring in 1999. He also worked as an auctioneer. George was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He loved nature and the outdoors and enjoyed walking.
He is survived by his companion, Gail Lane of Amherst, Ohio; two sisters, Rose Jones of Elyria. Ohio and Mary Parham of Arkansas; one aunt, Ethel Phillips of Elyria, Ohio; one niece, Ann Jones-Angell of Elyria, Ohio; and two nephews, Tom Jones of Stow, Ohio and Chris Jones of Orrville, Ohio.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Elizabeth (nee Hatter) Truskowski.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Ohio 44035 on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Closing prayers will be in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 9:30 A.M. followed by mass at 10:00 A.M. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 611 Lake Avenue, Elyria, Ohio. The Reverend Father Al Krupp, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio with full military honors provided by the VFW, Post 1079.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.

George and I were at Great Lakes in 1963 at Radar A School.
George and I stayed in touch for more than 40 years.
He will be missed and may he rest in peace.
