Delmar Vernon Ott, Sr., 91 years old of Elyria, Ohio died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

Mr. Ott was born on June 22, 1918 in Elyria and made his home here all of his life. He was a graduate of Elyria High School and he served with the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of North Eaton Christian Church. He was employed at Ford Motor Company and he also worked at Republic Steel in Cleveland. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1079 and a former member of the Elyria Moose Lodge. He enjoyed working at the counter of Pinebrook Golf Course.

Mr. Ott is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sylvia (nee Gillingham); one son, Del Ott, Jr. of Elyria; one daughter, Judy Nickell of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two step sons, Wayne and Stephen Glass, both of Elyria; two step daughters, Lorraine Roach of Richmond, Virginia and Stephanie Martin of Elyria. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Ott (nee Meyers) in 1977; one son, Thomas Ott in 2002; two step grandsons, Stephen Hill and Brandon Glass; two sisters, Aldy Rosenthal and Dee Lapp; and his parents, Raymond and Mabel (nee Marvin) Ott.

Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Ohio on Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 12 noon until the time of services at 2:00 P.M. The Reverend Ralph Wearstler of North Eaton Christian Church will officiate.

Burial with full military honors provided by the VFW Post 1079 will be on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio.
