Debbie & Family,
I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. When she would transfer the switchboard to Security, while she took her breaks, I always thought, she had such a sweet and helpful voice. Oberlin was so very fortunate to have her for such a long time. I was fortunate to become the next Telephone Operator when Marian retired, and I made sure I told her, what an excellent operator she had been. We spoke over the years when she would "temp" (working Commencement), and it was obvious the pride she demonstrated being employed by Oberlin, and answering each call..."Oberlin College". She was even more proud of her family and spoke of all of you, often.
Again, I am so sorry about your mom. I will always remember Marian and I tell people often about that great Telephone Operator's voice she had.
